They said "NO".

As you know I am a very open person when it comes to my personal life and things of the sort.  I try to share with you everything I'm thinking and feeling (whether it's here, twitter, facebook or youtube), just so you can feel comfortable and know that I'm genuine.

Last week (Thursday to be exact) I created a card specifically for the purpose of entering it to be on a design team.  This was my 2nd time entering a DT and the 2nd time that I was not accepted (they rejected me in a very nice way though).  The reason I'm showing you the card now is because we were required to create a never-before-seen project and email a photo of it.  I don't care to share what DT it was (just because I might want to try again next year), but I will say that I kind of knew I wouldn't get chosen, but I was still willing to try.

One of the questions they asked was "Have you ever been on a DT before?  If so, list them".  This made me feel so inadequate.  LOL.  If companies and brands go by your DT experience and choose you based on that, then how else is a person supposed to ever get chosen to be on a DT in the first place???  It kind of feels like an ongoing cycle.

None-the-less, this does not mean that I am defeated or disappointed.  The complete opposite!  I actually feel challenged.  If at my "best" they did not deem it good enough to join their team, then I will make it my priority to get better at my craft, take classes, get certified and do everything I can to push myself to a higher level.  I want to get so good that I get asked to join DTs and it's not me having to continually try to prove myself.

(click photos to enlarge)

With that said, I want to share the card I entered as my "never-before-seen" project.  I hope you like it and I hope it inspires you to also push forward and get better at what you love to do.  It doesn't have to be paper crafts, it can be anything.  Singing.  Writing.  Etc.  Don't let discouragement weigh heavy on you.  If you have the desire, nothing can stop you!!

And by the way, one of my cards was chosen [again] by SOG to be listed as top 3 BEST PROJECTS OF LAST WEEK, 2 weeks in a row.  That feels amazing!!

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope to have more fun projects for you next week.

I am entering this card into

Happy Birthday Ruthy!!

Hi everyone.  Did you miss me?  Hehe.  Well, I certainly have missed you all.

I want to share a card that I made for my mother-in-law.  Her birthday was Tuesday and it wasn't until Tuesday afternoon when my husband called me to say that his father wanted us all to go out to dinner for Ruthy's birthday.  I hadn't planned on seeing her til Friday so I was putting off making her a card or buying her a gift.  Thankfully I am crafty and was able to quickly put together a card that I thought she would love (she loves all my cards and keeps them in a special area in her livingroom to display - how sweet is that??)

Anyway, so I was also able to make her a pandora-style charm bracelet.  I know she likes jewelry, but she's very modest about it, and I wanted to bling up her wardrobe a little... give her something fun, young and hip.

I will be back next week with another card.

Talk to you soon.

Table Scrap Cards - Day 7

Hi everyone.

It's the 7th and final day of Table Scrap Cards.  I am so glad that I was able to complete this project and share it with you.  That I was able to challenge myself and continue the bond we started last month.

I'm grateful for everyone who dropped by this week and showed your support.  Thank you.

So for the final card I kinda cheated.  lol.

Although I did have a lot of these items on my desk, the one thing I didn't have was the image colored in.  So I (just to see) colored her in and liked how she came out.  Using some left over damask paper, left over purple paper (from MONTHS ago), and a few flowers I received in a recent RAK (thanks Ana!!), I was able to finish this card and have it ready for today's post.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these cards and I will have more projects for you soon, so don't forget to check back here.  Maybe even tomorrow I'll have something to share.

Thanks again.

My Best Project Of The Week

Hey ya'll, I'm back a second time today to share with you my BEST PROJECT of the week.  This idea comes from The Odd Girl, and you know her probably by your own search, but also because I used many of her images for my 30 Days of Christmas blog event last month.

If you follow her blog you know about a contest she's having to share your best project, and if not, go check it out.  My shabby pink Madelyn Christmas card was chosen this week as her top 3!  Actually mine was #1 out of the 3, but whose counting, right?  lol  I AM!!!  It was the first time any of my cards or projects has been featured on any blog.  I was so excited to see my name there.  FANTASTIC!!

I thought I'd take a stab at it again and share my favorite project from last week.  This time I'm actually using an SOG digi, unlike my first entry.  lol.  OOPS!!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out her blog.

Table Scrap Cards - Day 6

Can you believe there's only one more day left of table scraps and yet I still have tons more scraps left over???  LOL ... I am FOR SURE not going to start a new series, so don't expect that "surprise" in tomorrow's blog post... lol.

Okay, so this card was weird in the making.  There was a card "challenge" layout that I briefly saw a week ago and I could not figure out where I saw it; if it was on twitter, facebook, pinterest, blog, etc., (I wanted to also show a photo of the challenge and give credit to the designer, but I couldn't remember where.  What I did remember was the card layout and decided to do my own rendition of it.  By the way, if this layout looks familiar to you please let me know where you saw it because I'd like to come back and edit this blog to give credit where it's due.  Plus, I won't be able to get it out my head.. lol

Anyway, just a bunch of punched circles, WOC flowers and bling.  Easy!

You might have seen this image in the video of my husband's card-making skills that I shared a few posts back and on youtube.  It was so funny and so catchy that I received many messages, comments and emails about how the horn was stuck in their head for days!!

And just incase you want to see it again, I've added it below.  LOL.

x0, Damaris

I FOUND IT!!!  I found where I got the layout from... Thank God because that was gonna drive me nuts!!  lol

Table Scrap Cards - Day 5

Are you guys having just as much fun seeing these table scrap cards??  I think I'm having more fun making them because there's no pressure on me to actually make them (even though there is... lol).

This digital image is so adorable!  It's called "Winter Birdy" and it's by Spesch Designer Stamps.  I'm so glad I was able to google search it for you, because I had forgotten for a second where I got it from.

It was so easy to color (because there's hardly anything to color).  The funny thing is I wasn't sure if this was a girl or a boy, so I decided to make the card gender neutral.  Isn't that funny???  I happen to think it's a girl, because what boy would be playing with a bird??  Instead he'd be throwing rocks or snow at it!!  Haha!!  Anyway, in any case if it is a girl, she's rocking that cute blue outfit. =)

Thanks for stopping by, and if you want to purchase the digi you can click on the above links.

Table Scrap Cards - Day 4

I don't know if you knew this (maybe I tweeted or facebook'd it), but I made 5 out of these 7 cards in 1 day.  Amazing!!  Table Scraps ROCK!!!

Anyway, so today's card was a little more complicated.  I did have all these elements on my desk, but it was just a matter of choosing the right pieces and knowing where to place them.

I really like how this card came out.  Mostly because I was not too fond of the way I colored the bottom of the dress, so I was happy to have that part cut off... hehe.

All the colors are bright and fun.  LOVE it!!

Thanks for visiting me here in my little corner online (it feels like I've read that somewhere before)... anyway.

Come back tomorrow!!

Table Scrap Cards - Day 3

Hello darlings.

Glad you're back for more card inspirations. Today's card looks like a modern take on a classic card.

It's very neutral with a HUGE POP of aqua color right in the middle.

Every single one of the pieces you see here, were right on my craft desk, already cut and punched and colored and all I did was assemble it and glue it down.  SUPER FAST!!!  So fast, that I almost feel like I cheated!!  Haha!!

I hope you like it.

Table Scrap Cards - Day 2

Happy Saturday.

I have another Christmas card to share!!  YAY!!!
This one was actually done with the help of my husband.  There is a video showing how this all came to be, but it's more than 5 minutes long and it kinda gets weird at the end, so I kinda don't wanna show it.  Maybe if I look at it again I'll know for sure.

Anyway, I had fun incorporating hubby's idea (which was to have the penguin hold a flag/pole/sign) so that's what I did!!  It's fun, quirky and I was able to use tons of table scraps for this one.

Thanks for stopping by.

Table Scrap Cards - Day 1

Hi bloggers.

Thanks for joining me on another 7 day trip where I challenge myself to use all or most of the table scraps left over from the 30 Days of Christmas blog event that I had in the month of November.  I had so much fun creating those cards that I guess I started to pick up speed and the design ideas just jumped at me in the middle of my sleep.  hehe.

Anyway, so since I was sad to say goodbye (after we grew close to each other), I decided to continue for another 7 days and show you cards I make with whatever is on or near my craft desk, whatever is already out that I've either pre-stamped, pre-colored, pre-embossed, pre-cut or pre-punched, and whatever is within arms reach.  Hehe.

Today's card started out being a Christmas card (because I thought I could pull off more pink Christmas cards), but ended up being a cute birthday card instead.  Which is fine, because who doesn't love getting personalized birthday cards???

Using MME Lost & Found paper, some stickers and a colored SOG image, I quickly put together this card.

I hope you like it and are inspired by it.

Thanks for stopping by.

Santa's Blog Candy - Winners!!

Hi my loves.  It's 2:45am and I woke up an hour ago (wide awake) so I decided (since it's officially December 1st on the East coast), to come downstairs and find the 2 winners of Santa's Blog Candy!!!

I want to first thank everyone again for their commitment to join me everyday on this creative process.  I appreciate all your comments and time.  And let me also add that finding a winner was more stressful than making 30 consecutive cards in 30 days!!!  LOL... Why?  Because not all of you followed the rules!!!  You don't know how many times I had to randomize numbers to get the legit candidates... lol.

Anyway, I took photos along the way and am ready to announce the winners.

30 Days of Christmas - Finale

Well ladies, this is the end of 30 Days of Christmas.  I have been avoiding this post all evening (yesterday) and morning.  I have one hour to finish before my 8am deadline and I can't bring myself to saying goodbye.  =(

I thought about making another 20 days of cards, but I honestly need to make time for other things.  And then I had a "light bulb" moment as I recorded my husband playing around with the left over scraps on my table... (video to come).  So here's the exciting news!!  I Am Going To Extend Our Blog Time Together One More Week But I Am Calling It "TABLE SCRAP CARDS"!  There will be no prizes and no requirements (boo, I know), just me trying to figure a way to use all the pieces from the 30 Days of Christmas card leftovers to make new cards out of it.  They probably won't all be Christmas related, but most will.  I've already done 2 and I hope to make another 5 today so I could post it for you and be ready for the next week.  I figure this would be an easier way to soften the "goodbye" and not rip myself away so roughly like a bandaid.  lol.

Anyway, let's get to Day 30's card.

As I browsed on Google over the weekend I came across a company of stamps that I had never heard of before.  Spesch Designer Stamps has great digital stamps and I was able to purchase one of my top favorite Christmas ones.  It was very fun to color and I plan on going back for more.  They are just adorable.

(click photos to enlarge)

The card itself was kind of a last minute idea I got.  Hubby he doesn't like it much.  He gave me a B- for the card because he found 3 things he didn't like... LOL.  What does he know right???  (Him and his horns).

So using a distressed Tim Holtz Baroque die piece as my backdrop, I tried to create a window.  I used 2 Martha Stewart punches (double scallop border and medium branch), I used Recollections bling, Wild Orchid Crafts & I Am Roses flowers and a $1 wood stamp that I got from Jo-Anns, which I was able to color in to match the card.  The bird at the top is a cut out from Websters Pages' "Botanical Christmas - Winter Fairytales" paper that I thought fit at the top corner there.

The other paper line I used was MME Lost & Found "Christmas".  I barely used this paper for my cards, and I love it a lot, so maybe you'll see it in a future project.

She's called Santa Girl and along with using copic markers (see above photo), I also used White Fun Flock to cover the fuzzy part of her outfit.  I tried taking a close up so you could see it better.

I really REALLY love this image and coloring her was really easy... so as an added BONUS I want to include 2 pre-printed Santa Girl images for both winners.

I would offer the digi file, but then that would be like stealing from them right?  So the next best thing is to send you some samples to try it out yourself.  I hope the 2 winners would love that.  I am also including some extra goodies in both winners' packages.  You won't know what it is until you open it.

Thank you so much for joining me on this 30 day challenge.  I have absolutely enjoyed reading your comments and getting to know you all through the comments.  Thanks so much for all the support and I hope you will join me next week for "TABLE SCRAP CARDS"... that should be interesting huh??  Maybe one day I'll get hubby to make a card for you... hehe..

I will be drawing numbers and announcing the 2 winners tomorrow.  I would record myself doing it, but I'd have to double check for the qualifications and make sure that all the rules were met.  Also I have to count out all the extra entries from the posts and figure that all out.  So instead, I thought to take photos of everything and show you who won that way.  Good Luck To Everyone!!

Talk to you tomorrow.

I WILL BE ENTERING THIS PROJECT INTO THE SHOP PUMPKIN SPICE DESIGN TEAM CALL.  WISH ME LUCK!!

My Best Project Of The Week

Hi bloggers.  I wanted to share with you my favorite project of last week.  It's a card I made with a Greeting Farm stamp and this blog post is inspired by Kristy of Some Odd Girl.

If you play along and create a post of your favorite project of last week, you will be entered to win some goodies.  Make sure you tell her in the comment section who sent you.

The card challenged me to making something very shabby and girly, and I love how it turned out.  I think a lot of people like it too!!  Hehe

Thanks for stopping by.
